This is my favorite homemade pizza crust! It's light and crispy plus it's made with wheat flour (aka a little healthier).
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon quick rise active dry yeast
- 1.5 teaspoons basil
- .25 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large clove garlic, minced (or I will buy the canned minced garlic in water and use 1 tablespoon - much easier)
- .5 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon yellow cornmeal
- Combine .5 cup all-purpose flour, whole-wheat flour, yeast, basil, and salt.
- Blend olive oil and garlic in a small cup and add to flour mixture.
- Add water to flour mixture. Stir in remaining .5 cup all purpose flour until a soft, slightly stick dough forms.
- Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for about five minutes or until smooth and elastic. Shape dough into a ball, place into a bowl covered with a clean towel, and let rise for 10 minutes.
- At this point, you can split the dough into 3 equal pieces for personal pizzas or make one large pizza. Dough can also be frozen for future use.
- Preheat oven at 400 degrees. Sprinkle a pizza pan with cornmeal and set aside.
- Roll dough out thinly on a lightly floured surface. Place rolled out pizza crust on the cornmeal covered pizza pan. (If you like crispy crust like I do, you can bake the crust for 3-5 minutes before adding toppings).
- Add your favorite toppings and cook until toppings are warm and cheese is melted!
